Real talk: dog care can be confusing, expensive, and totally overwhelming.

Hi! I’m Carly, the voice behind The Dog Sense Lab—your go-to guide for clear, down-to-earth dog wellness info you can actually use. I’ve spent nearly a decade in veterinary medicine, mostly hands-on in surgery and general practice, and I saw the same thing over and over again:

👉 Pet parents wanted to do right by their dogs, they just didn’t know where to start.

That’s why I created this space.

I wanted a place where dog owners could learn about things like itchy skin, chronic ear gunk, weird shedding patterns, and even the poop scoop—without needing a PhD or panic-Googling symptoms at 11 p.m.

Before launching this blog, I worked for 9 years in vet clinics—mainly as an anesthetist for small animal surgeries. I’ve helped care for everything from post-op poodles to pit bulls with chronic skin issues. I also have a background in science education, which helps me break down complex info into bite-sized, super practical tips.

Now I combine those two worlds—veterinary knowledge + education—to help you become the dog parent your pup deserves.

🐶 Because your dog can’t speak for themselves.

But you can learn what their skin, coat, and habits are trying to tell you—and I’m here to help you do just that.
